Loving catching up on your journals and adventure; though I have thru-hiked the AT and PCT, I’ve always wanted to do more of a “mountain man” style journey one day.
Just wanted to inform you that the beautiful open areas full of the orange-toned vegetation you could not identify are “mule-eared daisies,” which I thought you might enjoy knowing! When I hiked through, they were green and high, but I can see their autumn colors and texture in your video.
